The
Kern River Valley
Chapter #643, Order of the Eastern Star, extends an invitation to all
Eastern Star members to attend Chapter meeting in Kernville. Our
meeting are held the first and third Thursday nights of each month at
7:30pm at the Lodge in Kernville, 562 James Rd. We will have a variety
of fun nights, honour nights, and some dinners before our meetings. We
support our Senior Living Community in Yorba Linda and many other
charities.
Our
hands–on charity project is our Cancer Dressing Station which
meets once each month on the third Tuesday at 9:00am at the Lodge. We
make lap robes, neck pillows, mastectomy pillows, hats and bonnets for
cancer patients. These are given free of charge to patients in our
valley, the City of Hope, the American Cancer Society and the UCLA
Cancer departments for both adults and children. We welcome donations
of fabric or yarn or willing workers who are interested in helping with
this worthwhile project. It takes many hands to cut, sew, iron, stuff,
tie, crochet, mark and label, so there is always a job for those who
have the time to help. We each enjoy the fellowship as well as knowing
we are providing a service to those in need.
